Christmas Romances!

Today on the Beach, we have #1 Bestselling Suspense Author Kim Hornsby talking about Christmas Romances. Hey, did you switch genres, Kim? I thought you were Suspense. I mean I know Christmas can be very suspenseful with everything that needs to get done to have 1 perfect day but...

Mele Kalikimaka everyone! Kim here.

And no, I didn't exactly switch genres. I've always written Contemporary Romance Novellas as my side hustle. I publish them, sometimes they're free, sometimes I write under the name Kiki Abbott and then I unpublish them. It's complicated. I write them quickly, price them at free or 99 cents and enjoy having something different to offer my readers.

Last year this time, my screenplay agent asked me if I had a Christmas Romance screenplay because she'd just pitched my book Christmas in Whistler to a producer. I took to the computer and wrote a screenplay from that. Up to that point, I'd only written a feature film thriller screenplay and was working on a TV pilot about ghosts. But the Christmas theme just rolled off my brain and so I quickly plotted another TV movie screenplay set at Christmas. That was last October. Cut to a year later and I have sold a Christmas TV movie screenplay to a producer who plans to make the film next Spring (it was my 3rd effort) and now have interest in the 2nd screenplay that I turned into a novella called Christmas at Crystal Creek. That one is looking pretty darned good for getting on film next year too. We have an actress interested in the lead and she'd be wonderful! I can't tell you any more than this right now but stay tuned for a big announcement when I can. I announce on my Kim Hornsby Beach Club site:

Christmas is such a fun time of year and I love having it in my head while I write. And, I love those Christmas Box Sets where you get 10 books for .99. Each year I compile one of those with 9 other authors and this year our set started early to get more sales and hopefully achieve USA Today Bestseller Status in late October. Fingers crossed. Christmas at Mistletoe Lodge is a set of 10 novellas, all with a Mistletoe Lodge somewhere in the story. Cute, right? I'm writing mine now and loving the story about a psychologist who hasn't been out of her house in a year but has to attend a Christmas wedding at Mistletoe Lodge.
We are donating a portion of all proceeds to St. Jude Children's Hospital, a charity we used last year, as well. Most of the authors are already USA Today Bestselling Authors or NY Times Bestselling Authors so you know the stories will be fantastic.
As well as this, I've published a Christmas Cookbook to drive readers over to the box set! The recipes are based around cold weather needs but we have mac and cheese, cookies, and lots of recipes in there that can be made in sweltering hot weather too.
I hope you'll consider downloading the cookbook to get our sales up, to get  noticed, to get more people on our box set site to reach USA Today status and also send those kids at St. Judes a nice big check in January when we get paid.
Thanks ahead of time!

Ghost Meets Scooby Doo

Here on the Beach, we have author and screenwriter, Kim Hornsby!

Hello Readers! I've delved into a new series and am having a blast writing it. Finally, I gave myself permission to write 1st person, my favorite, from the viewpoint of a slightly snarky person. How wonderful is that?
Moody & The Ghost books are written from the viewpoint of a 28-year-old woman who has gone blind in a car accident but finds she can see in the presence of a ghost. The spirit just happens to be a very handsome sea captain from the 1850's and as Bryndle Moody copes with his comings and goings and the life of a blind person, she gets in all kinds of sticky situations.

The series was originally written as a TV series, the first book being the Pilot so if it ends leaving you wanting more next week, you'll know why. That's how TV is written. In the promo to try to get a producer to pick up the series, I say it's like the movie GHOST meets Scooby Doo. There's a fun team of paranormal investigators led by Bryndle and they travel around in a van called the Marshmallow. But also, there's this amazing romance that comes to fruition in Book 3 that is reminiscent of the movie Ghost with Demi Moore.

It's ghosts, suspense, humor, romance and recipes!

DEAD AHEAD - BOOK 1

Ghosts love Bryndle Moody.
Until recently.

After a car accident that took her husband’s life and her eyesight, Youtube celebrity and paranormal investigator, Moody, finds she has also lost her ability to communicate with ghosts. When she mysteriously inherits a house on the Oregon Coast, Bryn and her team set out from her Seattle houseboat to investigate. The house has many surprises and as Bryn desperately tries to restore her clairvoyance, she discovers an elusive inhabitant with the ability to salvage her business and her reason for living.
For a price.
