I LOVE The Beach!!!
Today on the beach, we have Kim Hornsby, Bestselling Suspense Novelist and screenwriter. Take it away, Kim...
I love the beach!
And looking out at the ocean. That's why my brand as an author is associated with the word BEACH. I write beach reads (entertaining fast-paced, story driven) suspense books and envision people on a beach reading it in print. Or reading on a Kindle, although they can be hard to see in bright sunlight!
In THE DREAM JUMPER'S PROMISE, there are many beach scenes because the protagonist is a scuba dive shop owner and a diver.
The second book THE DREAM JUMPER'S SECRET begins on a dive but the story is quickly taken to Seattle and then on to Afghanistan where most of the country is beach with no ocean.
The third book THE DREAM JUMPER'S PURSUIT travel all over the place on a manhunt, ending up in Nicaragua and on the side of Volcano Mombacho. Not alot of beach in that one but definite adventure and high action story.
NECESSARY DETOUR has the protag living on a lake, swimming, pulling her canoe up on her beach, then the story moves to a sailboat off Seattle.
ROCKY BLUFF is set on Maui and features another scuba instructor. Beach plays a small role as they hunt for a stalker and killer in the Wailuku area of Maui.
GIRL OF HIS DREAM is all beach as the hero teaches diving and gets involved with her student while teaching him to deep dive.
DREAM COME TRUE has no beach whatsoever seeing it's a Christmas story set in a small town outside Seattle during the holiday season. But, it's a great beach read.
